Toni May has the boho rock, wood, and leather jewelry thing all wound up. And feathers! Rock, wood, leather and feathers. Great combo. Fittingly the creations (by Sydney lady Laura Byrne) are called things like 'Flame' cuff, 'Fire on the Ocean' bracelet and 'Fly With Me' cuff. We might just do that.-Nadia
Sydney artist Kelvina-Jo Smith works with oh-so-soft wools, supple leathers, and wood to create eco-conscious wearable artworks. Imagine breezing 'round the house on a Sunday in one of these things? Beautiful. You can see her work at Poepke. -Nadia
INCU has done a darn clever thing and created a ladies label to match the very down-to-earth and wearable men's brand—Weathered. Picnic shorts, chinos, blazers and tank dresses are where it's at for the Weathered gal. Sounds like a gal we'd like to know.-Nadia
While all the other musos were making videos, Ladyhawke was making an app. Using it is easy. Click here if you're on iPhone. Click here if you're on Android. Download the thing, select Virtual Reality, then hold your phone up to the above vid and press play. -Nadia
Kloke has pulled out all the stops for Autumn/Winter with juicy layered fabrics made for wandering the wild outdoors. The beautiful supporting campaign, shot by photographer Tim Hillier, captures just that. - Nadia
There was an urban-Western thing going on at Livia Arena. Sultry cowgirls and ranchy ladies were making the rounds (as was a imposing-yet-intriguing lady-sheriff silhouette). Keen to see what the Melbourne-based designer (who was a corporate banker) does next. - Nadia
Jolet's future babes ruled the runway. With their simultaneously greasy-fried hair, their cityscape prints and their reflective shades, the Jolets came, saw (possibly better than most under those lights), and conquered. A bit about Jolet: her full name is Jolet Ucchino, she's a one-time graphic designer who turned her eye to fabrics in 2009. If this show's anything to go by, she knows her stuff and we can't wait to see more. - Nadia
With its teepee and cacti, Sunday's runway suited the Gorman gals to a... tee. They bopped down the catwalk in prints and pattens of all sorts (diamonds, spots, stripes and squares) topped off with cosy beanies, scarves and pom poms. One lucky model donned a 100%-pure pom pom hat, which I very much wanted to swipe and snuggle. - Nadia
Every little girl is somewhat influenced by her ma, but Rosemary Masic has taken things a step further. Her label, Nevenka, is named for her mother and influenced by her Eastern Euro heritage. A learned pattern maker, Rosemary hones in on the finer details: precise cuts, detailed tailoring and super meticulous finishes. Her girly chic LMFF show would have made any mother proud. - Nadia
Rittenhouse has put together a nice bit of stop-motion for the launch of its latest collaborative collection. The window at Sydney boutique Poepke was hand-drawn by Melbourne artist Lucas Grogan who has worked with the label on a selection of key pieces. You can click them here. - Nadia
Melbourne's weekends have become even more cultured thanks to The Richmond Weekender. A group of fine local folk—Right Angle Studio, Foolscap, The Thousands, Speakeasy Cinema and Fancy Hank's—have combined forces to create a multi-purpose haven inside a former television studio. The project opened last weekend with a one-off Homemaker's Market, but the delicious grits, ribs and salads at Graham Canteen and the flicks at Speakeasy Cinema (program includes Being Elmo and Girl Walk // All Day!) will continue every weekend throughout March. Hurry up Saturday. (Images by Martina Gemmola.)
Hayley McKee from Super Wild Horses can play the guitar, the drums and probably many other instruments, but let me tell you something: she also bakes—professionally. Her online bakery is called Sticky Fingers and it makes super delicious cupcakes, cakes and aprons then delivers these things to your door. We lie—it doesn't make the aprons, Oh Henry Vintage does and Sticky Fingers sells them. But one thing we'd never lie about is this cupcake subscription. - Nadia
Melbourne gets two fashion festivals each year and the first of these starts in two days, eight hours, one minute and 51 seconds according to the countdown clock on the LOreal Melbourne Fashion Fest site. This year's line-up is looking real good—there are seven runways and a heap of awesome designers, including UO faves Karen Walker, Gorman, Kuwaii, Limedrop, ELLERY, Josh Goot, Therese Rawsthorne, Alice McCall, LIFEwithBIRD and Something Else. That's before you get to the mad-as-a-brush graduate kids. But enough talk, we'll be posting pretty pictures here over the next week. - Nadia
Karen Walker unleashed some of the world's prettiest sea monsters on the runway in New York recently, taking her inspiration from Jules Verne's novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. There was no narwhal in sight, just brilliant coral prints, luminous gold fabrics and some Captain Nemo-style tailoring. - Nadia
The eyewear game is crazy competitive, but newcomer Nick Campbell has cut through with his bold frames and a smoking campaign. The Sydney fella is a long time collector, first time designer, and his current collection is a massive start. - Nadia
TMOD, makers of dreamy stationery, clever jewellery and crafty totes, are soon to extend their range to awesome greeting-cards-turn-animal-masks. Can't wait! - Nadia
Romance Was Born has referenced the wholesome tradition of girl guiding in its latest collection, mixing no-fuss uniform-type tailoring with mental colours and folky '70s prints. - Nadia
